About Us

Tir na nÓg Nursery and Montessori Athy

Tir na nÓg Nursery, Naíonra, Montessori and After School Centre was founded to provide settings where children can have fun and enjoyment while learning and discovering their own potential under the guidance of professional and experienced carers. Tir na nÓg offers an environment, which is safe and secure yet stimulating and challenging. Through recognition of the individual traits and interests of each child we strive to obtain a clear understanding and awareness of every child’s needs. Our relationship with parents is a partnership of trust and respect and this is achieved through good communication and a complete open door policy.

We accept children from 15 months old. The fees are set annually each September at the rate that ensures continuance of the service. When all available places are taken a waiting list is established. In order to ensure equitable allocation of places and to provide clear instruction to families, Tir na nÓg will operate on a first come first served basis. Young siblings of already attending children will get first priority. Some places are reserved for parents from VTOS, FAS, and the HSE.

Aims of Tir na nÓg

The Nursery aims to provide a learning environment in a Christian setting in which the children can grow in understanding. Through a broad balanced curriculum Tir na nÓg endeavours to equip each child with the necessary skills, attitudes, values and knowledge in preparation for school life. We are always setting the highest expectations while supporting those who need help to do their best.

To achieve this Tir na nÓg will:

  • Welcome and foster the home, nursery and Health Board partnership
  • Respect and respond to each child’s individuality
  • Encourage children to develop a sense of self worth leading to self discipline
  • Encourage all members of staff and children to develop their true potential
  • Recognise the diversity of cultural backgrounds and embrace it as a resource to be valued
  • Encourage mutual respect between staff, children, parents/guardians/carers and visitors.
